A: Hi, according to the two Tundra forums I checked, the timing belt needs to be changed at 90K miles intervals. Failure to do so could result in significant engine damage should the belt break while the engine is running due to valves hitting pistons. It is also recommended that if you are going to keep the truck you might want to consider changing the water pump which apparently is behind the timing belt. It is a major job to change the timing belt and if the water pump should fail at say 100K you will be spending twice the money, so maybe a good idea.

Glad I don’t own one of these because someone spent $1300 to have theirs changed! My old Dodge 318 V8 Timing chain went over 200K miles before I had to change that.

Q: What can i do to my 2000 Toyota tundra?
My 2000 toyota tundra has a 4.7 v8 with a four speed transmission, it’s governed at 105 and when i reach that my rpm’s are at 5,000 and redline is about 5,200, so what can i do to make it go faster then 105 and not redline?

A: Several ways- Change the rear gear to a lower ( number ) ratio, put on larger O.D. tires, add a separate overdrive unit after the tranny.

A: You are not going to like the soft tonneau cover. Get the Hard cover, it would out last the soft one and function ways better then the soft one.

A: Why don’t you go check a Tundra out and take a measurement, then compare that to your bikes. Kinda simple, really.

Q: How to break in a 2007 Toyota Tundra?
Hi I just bought the 2007 Toyota Tundra and this is my first brand new car ever, I’m 19 so I don’t got a lot of knowledge on cars yet. What would be the proper steps into breaking it in, I’m getting 9mpg is what it says on the guage =(. Is it good to drive it longer distances? Another question I had, is it bad to floor the truck when new? I’m coming from a 03 Tacoma inline4 single cab…so this is a big jump in size and power.

A: did you actually read where it says, your not suppose to floor it or ride ur engine hard the first i dont know how many miles for you but , it has something to do with the oil and ur engine, i bought a 06 civic si and i had to wait till like 2,000 miles to finally go nuts

A: Does it say iForce on the Tailgate or anywhere else on the car? If it doesn’t you don’t have it.

Q: Anyone know if there will be a double cab version of the 2007 Toyota Tundra?
The 2007 Tundra featured on the Toyota website looks like it’s just an extended cab.

A: yes for sure. there is no way they could sell a full size pickup that would compete in this market with out one.

* Toyota expands a recall of the 2000-’03 Tundra to cover all trucks in the U.S.
* The recall is to fix a corrosion problem with the Tundra’s frame.
* Initially, only 20 cold-weather states were included in the recall.

DETROIT — Toyota is expanding a recall of the 2000-’03 Tundra to cover all vehicles in the U.S., the automaker said on Wednesday. The recall is to fix part of the truck’s frame that could corrode.

Excessive corrosion of the rear crossmember could cause spare tires or the gas tank to drop off the vehicle. The original recall was announced last November and covered 110,000 trucks sold in 20 cold-weather states. Toyota initially said exposure to road salt could cause the corrosion.

“Now a special service campaign will be launched covering all 2000-’03 model-year Tundra vehicles that were originally sold in and currently registered in the remaining 30 states,” wrote Curt McAllister, a Toyota spokesman, in an e-mailed message to Inside Line. “Owner notification will commence in mid-March.”

McAllister was not able to say how many more Tundras will be added to the original recall in this case.

Word of the expanded Toyota recall comes during a hectic week for Toyota as it struggles to cope with the fallout from massive recalls of its vehicles and the ensuing blow to its reputation.

In its original description of the Tundra corrosion recall, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that “excessive corrosion of the rear crossmember may cause the separation of the spare tire stowed under the truck bed, which would present a road hazard that could cause a crash. Also, corrosion of the rear crossmember could affect the rear brake lines and the proportioning valve, resulting in diminished braking capability.”

As of November 16, 2009, Toyota was advising owners of the affected Tundras to remove the spare tire from under the vehicle “until a remedy can be obtained. Dealers will inspect the rear crossmember and related components, including the brake lines, and replace them if necessary,” according to NHTSA’s recalls summary of the problem. “If the crossmember does not need to be replaced, it will be sprayed with a corrosion protection compound.” It noted that “multiple visits to the dealer may be required.”

Although Toyota did not explain why it is expanding the Tundra recall, a check of NHTSA’s complaint database shows that consumers are still griping about the truck months after the original recall — including one who lives in Florida for part of the year.

“I own a 2003 Toyota Tundra that has severe frame rust,” wrote one consumer. “Big pieces of metal are flaking off. Sooner or later, some component attachment point will fail. The rest of the underneath, and truck as a whole, is rust free. I religiously wash the underside of the truck. There is a defect with these frames.”

I have an 07 Toyota Tundra and want some rims for it. But the selection of rims made for the Tundra is very minimal. So I wanted to know would rims for the Titan, F-150, Silverado, Sierra, or Ram work for it?

A: Your bolt pattern is called a 5-150. The only other rim that will fit it other than a Tundra rim would be off of a LandCruiser, but not all years. Sorry!

A: Go to your local toyota dealership. They sell what’s called touch up paint for I think around $5-7.

Q: how can i replace the back glass on my toyota tundra?
I recently shattered a portion of the back glass on my toyota tundra (the right panel next to the sliding door), and i need it replaced as soon as possible. Please share any ideas on: who i might contact for a replacement glass panel, if it’s possible to install it myself, and anything else that might help. Thanks

A: I broke MINE also. Take it to a glass shop. They have to replace the whole thing. This is not easy to do CORRECTLY. It will leak if YOU do it.

Glass shops have cheaper replacements than Toyota dealers.

About 600. if you have Toyota replace it

About 300 for a glass shop replacement.

Q: Would Toyota Tundra TRD Bilstein Shocks work on the front end of my 88 4runner with IFS?
I found a good deal for a set of Bilstein shocks from Toyota Tundra TRD package. And I just recently lifted my 1988 4runner about 2.5″ so i need new shocks. Would these work for my rig? Need answer ASAP! Thanks!
the shocks are from a 2008 Tundra TRD kit.

A: Some specs are different on models, you can contact auto parts store and have them check both years and see if there is a difference if there is then no if yes then go to town and change them.
