mini cooper
Are you looking for a mini cooper for sale?
Q: MINI COOPER!!!!????????
okay so i really want to get one when i graduate highschool. i want to know everything about them….
do you recommend the clubman or just mini. do they get good mileage? reasonably priced? reliable buyer? anything about them would be fantastic..
thx
A: They’re pretty awesome cars. Since they’re small and light, they get good mileage and they’re easy to park. They are also very safe for subcompact cars and since they’re engineered by BMW, they are built very well. The handling of the Mini Cooper is great, but the ride is very bouncy. If you don’t mind a bit of a harsh ride, the Mini is a good choice.
Between the Clubman and regular Mini, I’d get the regular one. The Clubman is more spacious, but it costs more I don’t think it looks quite as good. It’s just not worth the higher price in my opinion. Also, getting a Mini with a manual transmission will save you money off the MSRP and gas. If you don’t drive a stick, it’s not hard to learn and they’re very fun once you get the hang of it!
Q: What type of gas is recommendable for a brand new mini Cooper?
My friend recently bought a mini Cooper and he is not sure if this type of car requires premium gas to perform better or if regular gas is alright. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks for your answers!
A: All modern Mini’s require premium gas.
The standard Cooper has a high compression engine, which requires it.
The Cooper S uses forced induction (turbo or supercharger) and required it.
Putting regular in a Mini will cause you to use MORE gas, which defeats the purpose. The car’s computer will retard the timing (pushing it out of tune) to prevent knocking on regular gas. That will consume MORE gas.
It’s not a performance question really.
A tank of premium will only cost about a dollar more in total, at the pump.
Q: What’s the difference between a mini cooper s and a mini john cooper?
I’m looking into buying a mini cooper, and I was curious what’s the difference between these two. Any information will help, thanks!
A: The cooper “s” is a turbo vehicle where the cooper is not turbo. The john cooper works or JCW package has a different turbo on it and the programming is different. You can get JCW brakes, suspension, steering wheel shift knob and much more. JCW is factory backed performance for the mini. the older minis (02-06) hardtops (R53) were supercharged the (02-08) convertible (R52) “s” was also supercharged. Now the (07-now) hardtop (R56) “S” is turbo and the (09-on) convertible (R57) “S” is turbo and the Clubman (R55) “S” is also turbo. Hope I have helped!
Q: How do I use the bluetooth on a mini cooper ?
I bought a 2006 mini cooper and it has a phone icon on the steering wheel. No info in the book. Is is for bluetooth? How do I access it?
A: The 2004-2006 MINI Coopers all had either the plain steering wheel with no buttons or the multi-function witht he stereo and cruise controls. Even tho you have the little phone buttons there on the left side, you do not have the bluetooth function. However, there is a set up from MINI that you can install to make those buttons work. It’s roughly about $800. There is a lesser expensive version of the MINI bluetooth and it gets installed to the left of your stereo power button on that silver pillar. This unit is just under $300 or so.
There are a few other options of course. You could just get a few bluetooth head sets from you local electronics store or buy a new stereo head unit like Sony, JVC, Apline, etc.. these companys all have head units that have bluetooth. So you can listen to your music and the music will fade out when you get a call.
I got mine from www.crutchfield.com.
Q: How do you reset the miles on the dash of a Mini Cooper after oil change?
A coworker recently purchased a Mini Cooper (2004). She just took it in for an oil change and the local garage does not know how to reset the dash to reflect the miles for the next oil change. How do you do this?
A: After completing the required maintenance, the service indicator may be reset as follows:
Place the ignition switch in the Off position.
Press and hold TRIP RESET button, then place ignition switch in the On position.
Keep button depressed until Oil Service or Inspection is displayed, then release the button.
Press and hold TRIP RESET button for 5 seconds until RST is displayed.
While display is blinking, press button to reset service interval.
The new service interval will be displayed for 5 seconds.
Place ignition switch in Off position.

Q: What would be best a mini cooper or a 1960’s mustang?
I’ll be 18 in a few months so I’m starting to think about the first car I want. My decision comes down to the mini cooper (the current one), and a mustang between 1955 and 1960. What are the pro’s and cons for each.
A: Mini Cooper
Q: How to remove the dog hair in a Mini cooper?
There are lots of dog hair in the mini cooper. Anyone has an idea how to remove the dog hair in the mini cooper. Especially the area around the seats and some gaps between.
A: - vacuum
- dog hair brush
Q: For somone who owns a Mini Cooper: How does this vehicle handle when driving in snowy and/or icy conditions?
I am thinking about getting Mini Cooper, but am not sure about how it handles in wintry weather. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question!
A: I drove my ‘06 through last winter, and had several bouts with snow. It handles it very well, just like you’d expect a front wheel drive vehicle to do. If anything, it is considerably better than most front wheel drives. I drove it across several mountain passes. I had some cable chains in case I needed them (the law requires you have them around here), but never did feel a need to install them. I kept the stock Continentals on all winter. I bet with studs on, you’d be hard pressed to get into trouble, unless you did something stupid (which all of us are capable of doing).
Didn’t have occasion to drive in freezing rain last year. That is a challenge in any vehicle, a Mini included. But I am sure it will do better than most under those conditions too.
Q: Where is the battery located in a mini cooper?
Where can I find a picture of what is under the hood in a mini cooper? I am writing a story and the main character’s car (a mini) broke down and she needs to check the battery connections. Between what 2 things is it located? Thanks!
Sorry you’re going to have to explain better… I’m pretty clueless on this. A website with a drawing would work too.
A: Access under small compartment lid under hood. But battery is actually under passenger dash.
Q: How do i get the Mini Cooper dealer to sell me a car closer to the invoice than the msrp?
I went to buy a 2006 Mini Cooper tonight and was told that the price on the MSRP sticker is the only price and Mini dealers dont mark down. That they sell about 60 a month so they dont haggle. From what i have found online, their invoice is around $22500. They wont budge on $25700 sticker, $28200 out the door. But they will throw in floor mats. Woo Hoo Any Mini buying experience will be appreciated:)
A: Unless that is corporate policy, make an offer, and if they refuse, leave your phone number and wait for a call. If that does not happen, go to another dealer and try again.
Q: How does the bluetooth snap in adapter in the armrest on a Mini Cooper work?
I have a Mini Cooper with bluetooth functionality but don’t have an armrest. I’ve seen armrests with a snap in adapter that charges your phone. Was curious if anyone knows how these work and if it’d be an available install. Also more curiously is would an iphone be able to play music over this system or is it simply for charging?
A: What year mini ??? as the two are different 02/06 and the 07+ are different bluetooth units
Q: Does anyone know how much a Mini Cooper oil change costs?
I have read that a Mini Cooper oil change costs $150. I do not believe this is true but I would just like to know what some people out there who own Mini Coopers are paying. Also I do not have time or the space to change my own vehicles oil.
A: Nope, not true…… it has a regular small combustion engine, cost the same as any other 4 cylinder car.
Q: What are the bulb sizes for a mini cooper?
I own a R50 Mini Cooper 2003. I want to get replacements for my low beam and a conversion kit replacement but unsure what the sizes are.
A: it should say what the sizes are in the handbook. if not some places that sell the bulbs for cars often have charts on which you can check what size you will need.
Q: what is the best model year for buying a used mini cooper s?
What is the best model year for buying a used mini cooper S. I was hoping to get one cheap, so was looking at at 2002-03, but I heard some years had issues.
A: 2005-06 are considered the best years. All the bugs worked out, plenty of aftermarket available.
I have a 2006 MCS-JCW.

Q: Is the 2009 Mini Cooper John Cooper Works really worth the extra money over the 2009 Mini Cooper S?
In the USA, the 2009 Mini Cooper S is worth $22,600 brand new. The 2009 Mini John Cooper Works is $29,200 brand new. My budget is $25,000 out the door exactly. Should I go ahead and purchase a Mini Cooper S or a used Mini John Cooper Works? Is the John Cooper Works Mini really worth the extra money?
A: I love the mini coops, any one would suffice for me.
